Some may remember Diego Maradona as the greatest soccer player who ever lived. Others may remember his life after soccer — as an overweight drug fiend with links to the Italian mafia. "Diego Maradona" is director Asif Kapadia’s latest documentary. It’s his third in a trilogy that includes “Senna,” about the legendary race car driver Ayrton Senna, and “Amy,” which traced the life and death of Amy Winehouse. John Horn spoke with Kapadia at the Telluride Film Festival about what draws him to a subject.

When the singer came to the U.S. from Guatemala in her late teens, she wanted to make American indie music. Now, she combines traditional Latin music with pop sensibilities. For her latest album, she teamed up with famed producer Van Dyke Parks for the album, "Spangled!" (out on Oct. 4), which includes an updated version of David Rudder’s 1998 song, “The Immigrants,” recorded to support the efforts to reunite families at the border.
