After the historic decision to overturn Proposition 8, which defined marriage as between a man and a woman, Judge Vaughn Walker promptly issued a stay on his order to allow opponents of gay marriage to file their appeal. Today, Judge Walker announced that he will extend the temporary stay until August 18th to allow opponents to file their case with the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. The judge did deny opponents a permanent stay, but until the temporary stay is lifted on August 18th, no new marriages may take place. We have reaction from both sides of the issue.
