For many around the country, it's spring break this week. Maybe you're headed to the beach, the mountains, or, if you're a wealthy yacht owner, maybe you’re considering the Maldives.
The Maldives are a chain of islands in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Think white sand beaches, turquoise reefs - a land of flip flops and beach wear. But the Maldives are threatened by rising ocean levels and scientists say they’re disappearing. It's a problem of global proportions for a country whose population is smaller than the city of Oakland, California.
A new documentary shines light on that challenge. It profiles the former president of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed. The film is called, "The Island President." Director Jon Shenk joins the show to talk with David Wright about the film.
