What do you do if your young son insists he's a girl or your daughter is adamant that she is a boy?

Do you assume it's a phase? Ignore it? Or do you take it seriously and seek out the professional help of doctors and therapists?

Some medical professionals are now advocating the controversial use of hormones at an early age to help transgender children to transition to the opposite sex.
