Longtime interfaith activist Ruth Broyde Sharone has authored books and produced films, and now is set to make her musical debut.

Her latest project “Interfaith: The Musical” premieres May 9 at 7 p.m. at the Pico Union Project in Los Angeles.

"This is the topic of the times, and I know that if mainstream audiences will come to the theater, they’re going to see a new possibility of coexistence," Sharone said.

She said communicating the importance of religious tolerance and interfaith dialogue is more urgent following recent attacks on synagogues, churches and mosques.

"We’re all being touched by this. This is kind of a virus. It’s not something directed particularly at one religion," she said.
