A U.S. Marshals Task Force that included officers from Pasadena and Glendale shot and killed a 28-year-old man who was wanted in connection with an attempted murder in Pasadena.

It happened around 1 p.m. on the 700 block of Encanto Parkway.

Deputy Joana Warren with the Sheriff's Information Bureau says the suspect was on parole and was considered armed and dangerous: "The U.S. Marshals Task Force located the suspect who was seated inside a vehicle, along with a female occupant. Upon making contact with the two occupants in the vehicle, an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was struck at least one time in the body by gunfire."

The suspect was airlifted to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The woman in the vehicle was also struck by gunfire but was not critically injured. She was arrested for drug possession.

Authorities did not explain why officers shot at the suspect.

L.A. County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal officer-involved shooting.
