Vault blast injures 3 people in Los Angeles

Three people were injured in an underground vault explosion in Los Angeles.

One person injured in the Friday afternoon incident was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said. Two others were being evaluated on the scene and were not expected to be hospitalized.

The incident on Beverly Boulevard did not involve fire and the building appeared to have only cosmetic damage, Stewart said.

The city Department of Water and Power was on scene.
