Super Bowl LI kicks off Sunday between the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots.

But for some people, especially non-sports fans, the big game is all about the food. In fact, the Super Bowl is second only to Thanksgiving when it comes to food consumption days in the U.S., according to the USDA

The (usually junk) food options range from all kinds of dips to fried bites and themed dishes related to the competing teams.

We asked KPCC staff to share their favorite Super Bowl snacks and got a variety of responses. Vote for your fave in the poll below.

“I don't watch the game, but if I did I'd probably want to snack on popcorn,” said KPCC Midday News Anchor Hettie Lynne Hurtes.

Off-Ramp host John Rabe went old school:

“L’il Smokey cocktail wieners in that sauce made from ketchup and grape jelly. Not kidding.”

Guacamole, spinach artichoke dip and chicken wings were most popular in the KPCC newsroom.

Associate news producer Francine Rios particularly likes this spinach artichoke cup recipe

Data editor Chris Keller, who has created such helpful tools as KPCC’s Fire Tracker, shared a recipe for his Makin’ and Bakin’ chicken wings. Judging from the spicy ingredients, you may be tracking a fire in your mouth.

Americans are predicted to eat 1.33 billion chicken wings alone over Super Bowl weekend, Forbes reported

Other choice game day snacks for KPCC staff included pizza, a taco bar, jalapeno poppers, nachos, onion rings and veggie chili. Raw veggies didn’t get any love, however.

“No kind of crudité because no one eats them,” said Take Two editor Joanne Griffith.
