Authorities say an armed burglary suspect fatally shot by Los Angeles police was a 23-year-old resident of the city.
The coroner's office says Pablo Renato Cartagena died at the scene Monday in South Los Angeles.
Police say officers patrolling the neighborhood saw the man burglarizing a car and chased him on foot.
One officer fired at the man.
Police say they found a handgun at the scene and believe it belonged to the suspect.
Officials did not immediately say what prompted the officer to open fire.
No officers were hurt.
