All lanes of I-5, 14 freeways in Sylmar reopened after brush fire ignites vehicle

All lanes of the 5 and 14 freeways were reopened late Friday afternoon after a brush fire nearby ignited a truck.

Update 5:50 p.m.: Lanes closed after brush fire burns vehicle

The northbound 5 and the northbound 14 freeways were shut down Friday afternoon due to a brush fire setting off a sigalert in Sylmar, according to California Highway Patrol officer Alex Rubio.

Rubio said the fire began when a car described as a grey Mazda truck ignited. 

The Los Angeles County Fire Department were on the scene. No injuries were reported.
