7 sought in alleged security contract fraud

Prosecutors are seeking the arrest of seven people in connection with an Oakland-based group that is accused of submitting false information while seeking government security contracts.

Alameda County prosecutors say BMT International Security Services lied about insurance coverage and other matters in obtaining or seeking contracts with Los Angeles agencies, Alameda County, Vallejo, Oakland, the Port of Oakland and Newport Beach.

The Oakland Tribune reports that authorities raided Black Muslim Temple, where BMT is located, on Tuesday morning. Black Muslim Temple is a spinoff of the now-defunct Your Black Muslim Bakery. One of the suspects being sought, Basheer Fard Muhammad, was seen being detained.

A call to the firm was not immediately returned.
