Coroner's investigators confirmed on Sunday that a parked Escalade found in the Fairfax District contained a man's decomposed body.
The bloated corpse was nearly unrecognizable as human remains, witnesses said. It was found in the rear seat of a Cadillac Escalade, said Coroner's Investigator Dana Bee.
A cause of death has yet to be established, Bee said. "The case is a homicide, so I can't give you any more,'' he said.
A stench coming from the car, parked near Willoughby and Genesee avenues, prompted someone to call police about 10 a.m. Saturday, according to Los Angeles police.
Authorities did not say to whom the vehicle was registered. It was found next to the city limit between Los Angeles and West Hollywood, two blocks northeast of Fairfax High School.
