On July 3, 2007 Richard Vladovic was sworn in as a school boardmember for the Los Angeles Unified School District, District 7. Vladovic is running for re-election.

Vladovic, 66, currently serves as a commissioner for the Commission on Children, Youth, and their Families for the City of Los Angeles.

In 2000, Vladovic was selected to head the newly formed Local District K made up of 72 schools serving almost 70,000 children. In 2003, Vladovic was named superintendent for the West Covina Unified School District. In 2007 Vladovic became a Los Angeles Unified School Board member.

Vladovic has been involved in education since the late 1960s, beginning his career in education as a social studies teacher at Stephen White Junior High School in Carson. He has occupied various positions in the education system, including teacher, principal, administrator and superintendent.

Vladovic also served in the Army and retired from the United States Army Reserves at the rank of Infantry Major.

Vladovic is married to wife Kathy and has two children.
