5 Orange County sex offenders agree to move out of hotel

HUNTINGTON BEACH — A spokesman says five registered sex offenders have agreed to move out of a Huntington Beach hotel following protests by nearby residents.

A spokesman for Extended Stay America hotels says three of the parolees had relocated by Friday evening.

Tony Knight of Sitrick and Co., a crisis management firm working with the hotel chain, says the remaining two will be relocated "once the crowd disperses and it's safe to leave the property."

Residents said they became aware of the sex offenders' presence a week ago when Huntington Beach police distributed fliers listing the parolees' names and photos at the hotel's lobby.

The resulting publicity included a live broadcast Friday afternoon by KFI radio's John and Ken from outside the hotel.
