Ask an expert: your child development questions answered

The first years of life are extremely important for children’s brains. Our understanding of the brain and child development seems to expand by the minute. There’s a constant flow of new research and information about how to raise and teach young children. Fortunately, many of the child development experts championing this research live in Southern California.

KPCC In Person once again gave parents and caregivers a chance to talk directly with experts who can help sort through it all. Last year, a panel of researchers and practitioners answered questions on everything from the neuroscience of toddler temper tantrums to bilingual education in the early years. This year, we wanted you to help shape the focus of the conversation by telling us what you’d like to know, and we used your questions to guide this event.

KPCC early childhood reporter Priska Neely and KPCC In Person reviewed all of your submissions and brought together experts who helped answer some of your most vexing parenting questions.
