Michael Feinstein’s American Songbook

From Studio E in the Mohn Broadcast Center…I’m producing an underwriting spot for the LA Phil upcoming concert featuring Michael Feinstein at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on February 5.  For more information,  http://www.laphil.com/tickets/calendar.cfm?m=2&yr=2011

Feinstein is one of those amazing talents that I could listen to his smooth voice all day long. He has an incredible sense of interpreting great standards.  As I was searching for just the right music bed for this spot, I came across a You Tube video of Feinstein sharing how he is on a quest to preserve the treasures of classic American popular music.

Because of his passion, Feinstein has created a foundation.  The mission of the Michael Feinstein Foundation is to bring the music of the Great American Songbook to young people today, and to preserve it for future generations.

According to Feinstein, nothing is more important than all our children and grandchildren, and he believes that their lives will be greatly enhanced by the love, creativity and optimism of the music of the Great American Songbook and its composers.  The Michael Feinstein Foundation is committed to keeping this music alive through education, performance, and broadcast; and preserving the physical artifacts including scores, sheet music, recordings and memorabilia that are part of the history of our great nation.
