Unemployment insurance runs out Tuesday for two-million Americans

It’s always moving to hear the accounts of AirTalk listeners who’ve been out of work for an extended period of time.  Those of us who are fortunate to be employed might not know firsthand the financial and psychological challenges of longtime unemployment, but we certainly know it’s an incredibly difficult position to be in.

Tuesday morning on AirTalk, we debated whether the extension of federal unemployment benefits has a stimulative effect on the economy, or is limited to helping individuals directly affected.  Regardless, I find it hard to fully grasp how frightening it must be for middle-aged and older Americans who wonder it they’ll ever find work again.

If you’re unemployed, please share your experience here.  It will help all of us stay connected to what millions of Southern Californians are going through.  My thoughts are with you.
