Friday morning on "AirTalk," we spoke with Tod Tamberg, spokesman for the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, who defended Cardinal Roger Mahony's critical comments about the Arizona measure. Mark Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies said he thought the impact of the bill was being overblown, but that it would give law enforcement an additional tool to combat illegal immigration.
Now that Governor Jan Brewer has signed the bill, action moves to the courts. Challenges to the measure will be made almost immediately. We'll see if Arizona's right to put local police in a more frontline position on immigration enforcement will stand.
What a pleasure to talk with Carol Burnett on Friday. She's about as personable as can be. I hope you enjoyed the conversation and her funny story about stepping into a bucket of whitewash while being introduced to her idol, Jimmy Stewart.
