Talk about an "out of this world" expenditure! NASA spent 66 dollars a person per day for SNACKS during a 3-day conference in Baltimore last December. And what, you may ask, was the conference about? 'Twas a training session for its procurement officials, those folks who do the buying using taxpayer funds. In total those bagels, coffee and cookies cost over 62-thousand dollars.
NASA's response: the snacks keep attendees from wandering away, but its CFO promises to define "reasonable cost limits" for snacks in the future. You can read the entire NASA Inspector General's report by clicking here.
