Cal State Fullerton will screen the best films, videos and new media work from the entire 23-campus California State University student body Saturday, during the 23rd annual CSU Media Arts Festival.
Judges selected 31 finalists from 135 entries. All of the finalists will be screened Saturday. Ten winners will be announced. They get up to $500 in cash prizes.
Finalists are treated to an industry mixer before the event where they'll rub elbows with director Donald Petrie, whose films include "Miss Congeniality" and "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days."
The screening, which starts at 6 pm, and the student award ceremony, which follows, are free and open to the public. Both events will take place at Cal State Fullerton's Mihaylo Hall, Room 1502. Details are on the festival's website.
More than 3,000 students have participated in the festival since it began in 1991. This year's event is sponsored by DreamWorks Animation.
